ABOUT LRG GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE (W)

Established on 15 July 1971, L.R.G. Government Arts College for Women, Tirupur, is one of the premier Government institutions dedicated to women's higher education in Tamil Nadu. Affiliated with Bharathiar University, the College offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programmes across Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management disciplines, with several departments recognized as research centres. Beginning with just 221 students, the institution has grown into the only Government Women's Arts and Science College serving the districts of Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode. The generous donation of 22 acres of land by the family of Shri L.R.G. Naidu in 1972 laid the foundation for its remarkable growth. With over five decades of academic excellence, the College is committed to empowering women through quality education, research, innovation, and holistic development. A vibrant campus life, supported by dedicated faculty, modern infrastructure, research facilities, and active co-curricular and extension programmes, nurtures leadership, social responsibility, and lifelong learning among students.

The College is situated on the Palladam Main Road in Tirupur. The college is now offering 17 UG degree, 09 PG degree and 08 Ph.D. degree courses. Our college has been accredited by NAAC with a 'B++' grade.
